Summary/Job Scope:

We are looking for a proactive and results-driven Supervisor for Local Procurement in the Cement division. This role is responsible for managing the procurement of goods and services required for cement production, ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing, and maintaining strong relationships with local suppliers. The ideal candidate will lead a team of procurement specialists, optimize local purchasing processes, and drive efficiency while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate all local procurement activities related to cement production, including raw materials, spare parts, equipment, and services.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure the cost-effective purchase of materials and services, meeting the company’s needs and objectives.
  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with local suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing, quality, and timely delivery.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships, conducting regular performance reviews and addressing any issues related to quality, delivery, or service.
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, ethical standards, and local regulations.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders (such as production, maintenance, and logistics teams) to understand requirements and ensure timely availability of materials and services.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist in the development of inventory management strategies to minimize stockouts and optimize warehouse operations.
  • Prepare and review purchase orders, contracts, and agreements, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to company policies.
  • Provide regular reports on procurement activities, cost savings, supplier performance, and market trends to senior management.
  • Lead and mentor the local procurement team, providing training, guidance, and support to ensure high levels of performance and development.
  • Support in the negotiation of terms and conditions for contracts, aiming to secure long-term, mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Assist in managing the procurement budget, ensuring cost control and identifying opportunities for savings.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Procurement Manager or Senior Procurement Manager.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree from accredited College or University with major in Business Administration or Engineering.
  • Supply Chain Management, CPP, PMAC designation preferred
  • 5-7 years plus in Procurement & Supply Chain, working experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in cement, construction or heavy industry.
  • Prior Experience managing a team preferred
  • SAP or ERP system experience required
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, crouch and/or kneel and climb with some height’s exposure of a moderate level. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to inclement weather conditions. The noise level in the office work environment is low with occasional higher levels in non-office areas including need for personal protective equipment as required. Periodic travel required including ability to obtain passport for periodic corporate Toronto office visits as necessary.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $94,000 CAD
