Senior Tax Analyst

KEY OBJECTIVE:

Reporting to the Senior Tax Manager, the successful candidate primary responsibilities include ensuring compliance of Canadian corporate tax filings, assisting with tax audits, drafting objections, preparing tax provision, information returns filing and any ad hoc projects.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze sales tax accounts and prepare working papers to support the monthly/quarterly/annual Canadian sales tax returns and ensure compliance of sales tax returns filing.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly tax provisions and journal entries including tax account reconciliations, true ups adjustments and facilitate legal entity tax installment calculation
  • Assist with preparation of Canadian income tax returns including T106 and T1134
  • Assist with the preparation of transfer pricing contemporaneous documentation including development and implementation of transfer pricing strategies.
  • Assist with monitoring/researching developments in IFRS and tax legislative changes and forecasting impact to Canadian and US entities.
  • Assist with managing direct and indirect tax audits and liaising with Canadian tax authorities.
  • Research and analyze tax issues and questions from various business operation units.
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects to provide tax inputs as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Tax or Finance
  • Must have professional accounting designation (CPA) or close to completion
  • 4+ years of Canadian corporate tax experience
  • Proficiency with computer software (Corporate Taxprep, Microsoft excel (can perform complex functions), Word and PowerPoint)
  • Experience working within IFRS environment
  • Sound business and finance knowledge and judgement
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven problem-solving capabilities and an excellent attention to detail.
  • Aptitude to work both independently and as a team member in a dynamic environment.
  • Self-motivated person who takes initiative and ownership to improve tax related processes and procedures.
