The Technical Services Laboratory Technician Student, you will conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests of solid materials and liquids and analyzes test data by performing the duties listed below.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Set up laboratory equipment and instrumentation required to perform tests, investigations, research and/or process control
  • Tests and analyzes products such as concrete, aggregate and cement for plastic and hardened requirements
  • Documents results of tests and analyses
  • Prepares chemical solutions for use in processing materials, following standardized formulas or experimental procedures
  • Conducts maintenance for the laboratory facility
  • Plans for efficient use of materials and equipment
  • Performs statistical analyses and reports on cement and concrete performance to identify raw material quality
  • Completes, maintains and processes pertinent paperwork and records

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering is preferred. Excellent communications skills. Fundamental knowledge of computer software (Windows, Word, Excel). Valid Driver's License.
  • CCIL / CSA certifications for testing concrete / aggregate would be an asset.
