Director Lands and Resources, North America

The Director Lands and Resources is responsible for directing, coordinating, and implementing the strategy for Lands and Resources across VCNA's North American aggregates and ready-mix business units, as well as the Lands and Resources strategy for the cement business unit.
This role exists to support the company in achieving its sustainability and competitiveness goals while ensuring compliance, responsible land stewardship, and risk mitigation in alignment with long-term business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of the strategic pillars of the Land and Resources function. This includes optimizing reserves, managing permitting processes, ensuring environmental and regulatory compliance, engaging with stakeholders, overseeing rehabilitation projects, supporting acquisitions, and managing the divestiture of surplus assets.
- Actively participate in executive team meetings and contribute to the development of business strategy as it relates to lands, resources, and environmental management.
- Direct the development of aggregate sites in alignment with complex public policy frameworks and environmental legislation, such as Ontario’s Greenbelt Plan, Growth Plan, NEC, ORM, and relevant U.S. EPA regulations.
- Contribute to the evaluation of new market opportunities and support long-term strategic planning to ensure sustainability of the aggregate reserve base.
- Represent the company in key provincial and state industry associations to help influence policy and maintain a visible industry presence
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to Lands and Resources teams across Canada and the U.S. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous development.
Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor's degree in business, science or engineering.
- Graduate-level business education or a recognized professional designation is an asset

Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in the natural resources sector or related consulting fields

Proven track record in land acquisition, reserve and property development, and environmental management

Strong analytical skills and sound judgment in high-pressure environments

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Ability to interpret complex data and translate findings into actionable business insights

Skilled in leading and mentoring high-performing, cross-functional teams

Demonstrated capability to align technical evaluations with strategic business objectives
- Some travel required at times (30-40%), crossing Canada/United States border and overnight stays.
