Summary/Job Scope:

Reporting to the Tax Director, the Senior Tax Manager is responsible for preparing/reviewing comprehensive tax reporting and tax returns for St Marys’ Canadian and US entities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the tax function with full cycle Canadian, and US Corporate Income Tax compliance ranging from data gathering, analysis
  • Coordinating the Canadian SR&ED analysis and filings (and equivalent programs in the US)
  • Prepare and/or review information returns, elections, and other tax filings for Canadian and US entities.
  • Prepare and/or review monthly, quarterly, and year-end IFRS income tax provisions, financial statement tax notes, and tax packages for the head office.
  • Review indirect tax returns such as Canadian HST, PST returns and US sales tax returns.
  • Implementing and monitoring effectiveness of transfer pricing arrangements, assisting with the preparation of transfer pricing analysis, documentation, and quarterly transfer pricing calculations
  • Assist with managing direct and indirect tax audits and liaising with Canadian and US tax authorities.
  • Assist in budget and forecast by providing tax estimates.
  • Prepare FAPI calculations and surplus calculations.
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects including tax due diligence and integration.
  • Assist in automating complex financial models for tax planning and provision purposes.
  • Assist with monitoring/researching developments in IFRS, tax legislative changes, tax issues in cross border tax legislations and forecasting the corresponding impact to Canadian and US entities.
  • Partnering and building effective relationships with internal stakeholders, communicating, and documenting the status of tax projects and issues
  • Working together with the Tax Director in collaborating with Senior Leadership on long term strategic tax planning; actively identifying, evaluating, and resolving tax risks and exposures.

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation, with or without legacy designation attachment (CA, CMA, CGA).
  • In progress or completion of CPA In-Depth Tax Course Parts I and II an asset or equivalent
  • University degree in Business/Accounting.
  • Advanced degree (MAcc, MBA) an asset
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in tax working in a multi-national company or public accounting firm
  • Extensive understanding of relevant tax legislations and strong tax research and analytical skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Taxprep and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven problem-solving capabilities and an excellent attention to detail.
  • Aptitude to work both independently and as a team member in a dynamic environment.
  • Self-motivated person who takes initiative and ownership to improve tax related processes and procedures.

Salary Range: $139,627.93            $174,534.91
