Communications Manager (Internal & External Communications)

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Communications Manager with expertise in both internal and external communications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to foster clear, consistent, and engaging messaging within the organization, as well as managing the company’s public-facing communications efforts. This role requires a strong communicator who can balance internal stakeholder needs with external branding and media relations, contributing to the overall success of our communications strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Internal Communications:

  • Develop and implement an internal communications strategy to enhance employee engagement, ensure alignment with company goals, and foster a positive organizational culture.
  • Manage the creation and distribution of internal communications materials, including newsletters, intranet content, memos, presentations, and leadership updates.
  • Act as a liaison between leadership and employees, ensuring messages are clear, consistent, and aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Collaborate with HR, operations, and other departments to ensure internal communications support employee satisfaction, retention, and productivity.
  • Measure the effectiveness of internal communications through employee feedback, surveys, and other metrics, and adjust strategies accordingly.

External Communications:

  • Oversee the creation and execution of external communications strategies to enhance the company’s reputation and brand visibility.
  • Manage relationships with external media outlets and key stakeholders to ensure positive coverage of company news, initiatives, and thought leadership.
  • Draft press releases, media kits, speeches, and other external-facing content, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the company’s voice and brand.
  • Monitor media coverage and industry trends, providing regular reports to leadership on media sentiment, public perception, and relevant opportunities.
  • Coordinate a social media calendar with relevant topics to the business and the industry.
  • Serve as a company spokesperson or manage media relations in collaboration with senior leadership.

Crisis Communications:

  • Support crisis communication efforts, including drafting statements, handling media inquiries, and ensuring clear and consistent messaging during challenging situations.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and legal teams to mitigate reputational risks and ensure company responses are timely, accurate, and aligned with corporate values.

Content Strategy & Brand Management:

  • Ensure all communications – internal and external – align with the company’s brand, tone, and messaging guidelines.
  • Support the development and execution of content strategies across multiple platforms, including social media, blogs, websites, and traditional media.
  • Work closely with the marketing, sustainability and sales team to ensure integration between internal and external messaging for a unified brand presence.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in communications, with a strong focus on both internal and external communications.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences.
  • Strong media relations experience and familiarity with digital media, social media platforms, and PR tools.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with crisis communications and reputation management.
  • High attention to detail, creative thinking, and a collaborative work style.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and senior leadership to deliver on business objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in building materials, industrial, or manufacturing industries.
  • Proficiency in content management systems (CMS) and social media management tools.
  • Knowledge of analytics and measurement tools to assess the effectiveness of communications strategies.
