Job Summary
Effectively lead and manage terminal operations and employees for marine, rail, or truck sourced facilities. Maintain adequate inventories to ensure customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning: Create schedules; revise plans for changing circumstances; create lists of duties including short and long-term objectives.
- Motivator: Encourage cooperation between team members; Gain willing cooperation and get individuals to carry out unappealing tasks; ease stressful situations; understand personal needs or motives of others; encourage individuals to work at their potential.
- Appraising/ Evaluating: Undertake the job of training others; Appraise performance of individuals; appraising the personal development of individuals.
- Generate bills of lading.
- Create schedules and revise plans for changing circumstances.
- Train and appraise performance of individuals.
- Monitor the load out of product to customers and generate bills of lading.
- Develop and manage terminal budgets and implement cost-saving measures.
- Maintain and repair equipment and facilities, including preventive maintenance.
- Maintain inventory of repair, maintenance parts and lubricants.
- Perform minor rail car repairs to ensure proper unloading, (where applicable)
- Coordinate incoming products with Transportation Manager.
- Ensure terminal appearance, security, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Maintain Homeland Security requirements, act as Facility Security Officer (FSO), and follow Facility Security Plan (FSP).
- Maintain good relationships with customers, vendors, and civic organizations.
- Accommodate various work shifts including boat arrivals, weekends, and holidays.
Competencies
- Problem-solving and reasoning ability for analyzing, evaluating, and decision-making.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Strong mathematical skills including algebra and geometry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, and inventory/order processing systems.
Qualifications
- One-year certificate or trade school with one to two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and mechanical ability.
- High School Diploma required.
- Minimum 5 years supervisory experience.
- TWIC card required.
- Ability to communicate effectively and write routine reports and correspondence.
