Kiln Line Manager

Job Purpose (A brief overview of the purpose of the job and why it exists)

Coordinates the activities of the plant by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. To ensure plant’s budgeted production goals are achieved while maintaining safety, quality, and environmental compliance. 

  • Supervise the work of the shift supervisors, by reviewing the performance of each shift and its effectiveness of use of resources, operational KPIs; ensure optimal communication and hand-over between shifts; implement and review the shift production routines; Oversee the development and training of new and existing employees. The training will be performed mainly by the shift supervisors but not only.
  • Manages subordinate supervisors who will supervise all hourly employees in the Production Department. Confers with workers' representatives to resolve grievances. Oversees activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to fabricate new equipment or improve existing equipment.  Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of each unit.  Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Act as the primary interface with Control Room Operators and troubleshoot plant systems as needed. Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures for improved stability and reliability. Participate in improvement projects and assist in commissioning new equipment.

                    

 

  • To organize and follow routine and non-routine maintenance activities related to the line for which it is responsible
  • Controlling product inputs and outputs according to company quality targets and producing products in accordance with the targets

Skills –

  1. Language skill: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Computer skill: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word as well as familiarity with ABB Expert Optimizer (Linkman), Allen Bradley PLC programming, and PI Pressbook and SAP

Education – Engineering degree from four-year college or university; or or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Experience - Two to five years related experience and/or training.

 

Knowledge (technical/practical/managerial)-

  1. Knowledge of mining, cement manufacturing and quality management.
  2. Cement Manufacturing processes such as mining, milling, kiln operation, process control, and predictive maintenance are desirable.
  3. Health, Safety & Environmental legislative/regulatory requirements 
  4. Mechanical aptitude/experience. extensive experience in kiln operations and processes.

Leading continuous improvement efforts to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the production process. Ensure optimum utilization of raw materials, energy and other resources used in the production process.

To manage quality control processes to ensure that the product produced complies with quality standards. Working in coordination with the quality control laboratory.

Manage planned maintenance and repair programs to ensure efficient and safe operation of production equipment. To minimize production interruptions by providing fast and effective interventions in case of malfunctions. Contribute to spare parts management and equipment improvement projects by working in coordination with the maintenance team.

To quickly identify and analyses problems that may cause disruption in production and to ensure minimum downtime by producing effective solutions.

To follow annual production plans. To follow the budget KPI targets and take necessary actions to reach the target. Detailed work planning for annual scheduled maintenance. To follow the stock and orders of refectories to be applied in annual maintenance.
