Sales Representative

Summary: Manages all assigned customer accounts and complete territory assessment while assisting in the achievement of Prairie Materials sales and marketing goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Territory Responsibilities

  • Pursues all opportunities related to our business within the boundaries of designated territory.
  • Develops and maintains valuable relationships with clients at every level of business, up to and including C-level executives.
  • Develops sound working relationships with all municipalities and industry leaders within the boundaries of assigned territory.
  • Active participation in all levels of sales cycle

Account Responsibilities

  • Maintains sound working relationships with all assigned customer accounts.
  • Generates new customer accounts.
  • Develops an understanding of the segments of our business the contractors perform their work in.
  • Develops an understanding and monitors the performance of each contractor in areas such as credit, pricing, delivery efficiency, and purchasing habits.
  • Generates and promotes awareness of our products and services and the value they can provide to each contractor.
  • Generates and promotes awareness of our products and services and the value they can provide to each contractor in adjacent business such as underground contractors, ready fill applicants, etc.
  • Develops relationships with appropriate adjacent businesses.
  • Negotiates purchase orders with contractors on behalf of Prairie.

Company/Internal Responsibilities

  • Represents Prairie in a professional manner and acts as the Company's ambassador to the community, trade organizations, and competitors.
  • Promotes and coordinates a thorough, professional relationship between the Prairie Material sales force and all other internal customers such as credit, operations, and quality control.         
  • Participates in and assists in the coordination of Company initiatives within the assigned territory such as safety, environment, and marketing.         
  • Institutionalizes all sales and territory information on a daily basis (CRM).         
  • Assists in developing and maintaining sales budget and expenses within Company defined limits. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Strong people problem solving skills and ability to work through solutions quickly and efficiently
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and aptitude for figures
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to communicate both verbal and written
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to deal with projects and timely follow-up as needed
  • Ability to multi-task and strong organizational skills
  • Experience in ready mix industry preferred but not necessary. Competent in required job skills and knowledge. Exhibits ability to learn and apply new skills. Keeps abreast of current industry developments and trends. Requires minimal supervision. Displays understanding of general construction processes. Uses resources effectively.
