Summary/Job Scope:
The Selective Inspection Technician is responsible for conducting targeted mechanical inspections, condition assessments, and preventative maintenance activities across critical plant equipment. This position plays a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing unplanned downtime, and supporting safe and efficient plant operations.
This role is ideally suited for a highly experienced Senior Millwright who possesses strong technical troubleshooting skills and a deep understanding of cement manufacturing equipment and maintenance best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform selective and scheduled maintenance inspections on critical equipment including conveyors, crushers, mills, kilns, material handling systems, fans, pumps, gearboxes, etc.
- Conduct vibration, temperature, and visual assessments to detect early signs of wear, misalignment, imbalance, or mechanical failure.
- Document inspection findings in the CMMS (e.g., SAP, Maximo) and generate work notifications with clear, recommended corrective actions.
- Support and verify compliance with OEM maintenance standards and internal preventive maintenance (PM) procedures.
- Assist with root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and propose long-term reliability improvements.
- Collaborate closely with maintenance planners, supervisors, and operations to prioritize maintenance activities based on inspection results.
- Support predictive maintenance programs including vibration analysis, lubrication programs, thermography, and precision alignment.
- Recommend modifications to equipment or processes to improve performance, lifespan, or maintainability.
- Perform all work in strict compliance with OHSA regulations, plant safety policies, and safe work procedures (LOTOTO, confined space, hot work, working at heights, etc.).
- Actively participate in hazard assessments, safety audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure all equipment inspections and maintenance activities adhere to quality, safety, and environmental requirements.

Qualifications:
- Valid Ontario 433A Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Certificate of Qualification preferred.
- University Degree or College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field and asset.
- Minimum 7–10 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in cement, mining, aggregates, or heavy manufacturing.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with proven expertise in rotating equipment, gearboxes, bearings, couplings, and bulk material handling systems.
- Demonstrated experience conducting inspections, troubleshooting equipment, and writing detailed technical reports.
- Proficiency using CMMS systems (SAP, Maximo, or equivalent).
- Intermediate to Advance computer skills; ability to utilize MS Office, SAP, Kronos, and other relevant software and programs pertaining to the role.
- Ability to work independently with strong decision-making skills.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety protocols.
Note: Working conditions relating to physical effort for this role has been rated Moderate-Intermediate (meaning physical activity (e.g. standing, walking, working in an awkward or constrained physical position or confined/restricted space) can be up to 50% of the workday.

Salary Range: $74,649.19 – $111,973.78
