Summary/Job Scope:

The Quarry Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the quarry to ensure safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant extraction of raw materials for cement production. This role involves supervising quarry personnel, coordinating equipment usage, monitoring production targets, and maintaining regulatory standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate quarry activities including drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and crushing.
  • Train and mentor quarry staff, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
  • Reviews production schedules, monitor production output, adjust operations and coordinate with other departments to meet plant output requirements.
  • Arranges in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules.
  • Support planning and execution of shutdowns and major equipment overhauls.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and site conditions, report and address maintenance needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of production, inventory, and employee performance.
  • Collaborate with managers, engineers and plant personnel to optimize quarry planning and material quality.
  • Examines materials to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Respond to operational issues and emergencies promptly and effectively.
  • Assist in budgeting and cost control for quarry operations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant University Degree or College Diploma preferably in Mining or Geology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in quarry or mining operations, preferably in a supervisory role.
  • Previous experience in similar field, preferably cement or heavy industrial sector an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of quarry equipment, blasting procedures, and aggregate production.
  • Familiarity with Ontario mining regulations, health & safety standards, and environmental compliance.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience, with familiarity with heavy equipment an asset.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, analytic and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and SAP.
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Valid driver’s license: ability to operate light vehicles and equipment as needed.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Industrial plant environment with exposure to dust, noise, and high temperatures.
  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions and rugged terrain.
  • Requires physical activity including walking, climbing, and lifting.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
  • May involve occasional weekend or evening work during shutdowns or emergencies or to meet monthly execution expectations

 

Salary Range: $100,000 to $120,000 per annum

 

Note: This role is applicable to a day schedule (Monday – Friday, 6am -2:30pm), with overtime and participation in the On-Call rotation. Weekend work may be required.
