Job Purpose:
The Production Technician is responsible for coordinating, maintaining and monitoring the efficient operation of production processes within the cement factory related to housekeeping, and labour support for other departments when required. This role ensures that production/labour targets are met while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Key Job Functions:

Responsible for supervising and coordinating the labour force, including but not limited to Labourers and Service Equipment Operators. Ensuring the smooth operation of production and housekeeping schedules throughout the plant.

Lead, train and evaluate production staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Perform routine inspections of completed work schedules/work order within the production department to ensure that Company quality standards and regulatory requirements are being met.

Enforce safety protocols and conduct regular safety training sessions.

Working closely with plant management team, staying up to date with plant activities, and ensuring that labour activities are in line with overall operations.

Support other areas on specific demands for the labour team in line with production and overall plant schedules.

Support planned shutdown on equipment cleaning and preparation for internal work.

Identify areas for improvement in the production process and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

Provide overtime organization or contractor support if necessary, ensuring accurate management of union processes and strong communication with the union.
Know How:
-
Degree of diploma in Engineering, Manufacturing, Mining or other related field preferred or equivalent working experience

Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in the cement industry.

Knowledge of cement industry process, operations, process control or mining an asset.

Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislative/regulatory requirements.

Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with SAP, Ariba and other production management software required.
Problem Solving:

This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement.

Thinking within a general frame of reference toward functional objectives, in situations with some nebulous, intangible, or unstructured aspects.

Fundamental knowledge and experience in Root Cause Analysis and Statistical Reasoning required.
