Key Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership to department employees by establishing goals and objectives consistent with the company's values, management systems, plant objectives and budget and then is responsible for communicating these goals. Follow on activities include directing, coaching, supporting, and delegating, as the situation requires staying focused on these goals.
- Develops and maintains the annual mechanical maintenance budget, strives to adhere to that budget and regularly reviews KPIs associated with the budgeted performance to reasonably ensure adherence to that budget. This review will take place with direct reports. Regular summaries of performance will be made available to the plant.
- Ensures that plant equipment does not create instances of poor environmental performance, does not create safety issues, and that the equipment is reliable.
- Develops, monitors, and controls the annual mechanical expenses. Seeks cost adherence with a focus on reliability.
- Evaluates changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of mechanical workshop, department and work crews. These evaluations will be made with the input from the employees. Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving problems.
- Prime contributor towards thorough downtime and root cause analysis and avoid future occurrences. Leads all mechanical investigations, actions plans and improvements.
- Reviews and approves requisitions for services, materials, and spare parts as they pertain to the R & M budget.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university or two-year college or technical; or five to seven cement plant maintenance experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Mechanical aptitude/experience. Familiarization of heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of cement technology, kiln operation, process control and cement manufacturing and mining.
- Health, Safety and Environmental legislative/regulatory requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Exceptional ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, geometry, and engineering calculations. Ability to use engineering formulas.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should preferably have knowledge of CMMS SAP PM, MS Office, AutoCAD, AutoDESK.
Problem Solving:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Accountability:
The role has autonomy but is subject to routing plant involvement due to the nature of the work to achieve desired outcomes for the plant. This role is highly supportive of other roles within the plant organization.
This position will manage an operating budget between $8-$80 million CAD.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Capacity to extrapolate tendencies and work with numerical scenarios to foresee results.
May be responsible for up to 15 Direct Employees.
