Summary/Job Scope:
The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for the smooth operation of the cement plant and contribute to the overall efficiency and safety of the facility by supervising and coordinating activities of workers engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment, housekeeping, and in fabricating parts and tools for plant improvements and upgrades. This role is located in Bowmanville, Ontario.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working closely with other maintenance supervisors and managers to supervise and lead a team of maintenance operatives, ensuring efficient and effective completion of maintenance tasks.
- Assist in the development and implementation of preventative maintenance schedules to minimize equipment downtime and extend the lifespan of machinery.
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and optimization of plant equipment, ensuring all machinery operates at peak efficiency.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and standards, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) in Ontario.
- Assist in the management of the maintenance budget, including tracking expenses and optimizing resource allocation.
- Provide training and development opportunities for maintenance staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of equipment and facilities to identify and address potential issues.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment logs, and safety reports.
- Work closely with other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and support overall plant operations, participating in various department and plant-wide meetings.
- Lead the response to maintenance emergencies, ensuring quick and effective resolution to minimize impact on production.
- Ensures the safety of themselves and all colleagues through enforcing safe work practices and providing motivation and effective communication.

Qualifications:
- University Degree or college diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Certification in Maintenance Management or related field is an asset.
- Valid Ontario trade certification (e.g., Millwright, Electrician) is advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance in manufacturing or industrial setting, preferably in a cement plant.
- At least 3 years of supervisory or management experience, in a unionized environment,
- Proficiency in maintenance management software and systems.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, AutoCAD, AutoDESK, SAP PM is an asset.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and standards, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) in Ontario.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex maintenance issues efficiently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with team members, other departments, and external contractors

Salary Range: $110,000 to $130,000
